TEMPO.CO, Moscow- A source at Russia's Federal Guard Service (FSO) said they are now using typewriters to replace computers. The step was taken due to the growing number of publication of secret documents by WikiLeaks, as well as Edward Snowden, the fugitive US intelligence contractor.

According to the official website of Russia’s procurement agency, zakupki.gov.ru, the country will spend 486,000 Rubles, or around £10,000 to buy electric typewriters and the ribbons from Germany, the Triumph Adlew TWEN 180 typewrites.

An FSO source told the Izvestiya newspaper: "After scandals with the distribution of secret documents by WikiLeaks, the exposes by Edward Snowden, reports about Dmitry Medvedev being listened in during his visit to the G20 summit in London, it has been decided to expand the practice of creating paper documents."

Today, Russia is still using typewriters and printed documents in several bodies, such the Department of Defense and other vital Ministries and special agencies. Putin also uses printed documents to give command to the military.
