TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kuta Beach Bali has received complaints from tourists because of traffic jam and piling rubbish scattered everywhere. The criticism was conveyed by a British tourist who admitted she was disappointed to see that Bali was not as beautiful as she had imagined. A tourist named Corrin, who uploaded a video on the TikTok account @cor_98, showed traffic jam and scattered rubbish on the Kuta beach.

Kuta beach, located in Badung Regency, south of Bali, is one of the most popular beaches on the Island of the Gods. Tourists come to this beach not only to play in the sand or surf the waves, but also to go shopping and enjoy the culinary delights.

After much criticism, the Badung Regency Government plans to organize and maintain this beach. On Friday, January 26, 2024, Acting Governor of Bali Sang Made Mahendra Jaya, accompanied by the Regent of Badung I Nyoman Giri Prasta, held an environmental clean-up activity in Kuta.

"We have to protect this, according to the direction of the acting governor of Bali that the entrance to Bali is Kuta and the face of Bali is Kuta," said Badung Regent I Nyoman Giri Prasta, as quoted by AntaraNews.

Collaborate with traditional villages

They will collaborate with regional officials from sub-districts to traditional villages to work together so that tourists, both local and foreign, can feel comfortable and at home.

"We will soon hold a meeting with traditional village officials to find a joint solution because we, the Badung Regency Government together with the Kuta Traditional Village community, are obliged to improve according to the direction of the Acting Governor of Bali," he said.

Shabby-looking

Acting Governor of Bali Sang Made Mahendra Jaya stated that the area is shabby-looking. He admitted that he had received several complaints and expressions of disappointment about Kuta Beach. According to him, the beach scenery is still very beautiful, but because it is not well guarded and maintained, it got littered with trash easily.

"After we went inside, it looks even more shabby, [...] behind every stalls, there were lots of piles of rubbish," he said.

He added that Kuta Beach is managed by a local traditional village nearby. So he asked the management to look after it well. "This is what we have to protect it, the extraordinary Kuta area, the face of Bali," he said.
