PLN, BIN Ensure Electricity Supply Safe During World Water Forum in Bali

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has recently been appointed to host the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Nusa Dua, Bali, from May 18 to 25, 2024. The State Intelligence Agency or BIN in cooperation with the national electricity company PLN will secure the electricity supply during the event.
BIN Bali representative, Colonel Agus, said in a written statement on Friday, 10 May 2024, that he hoped the event would run smoothly “with adequate and safe supply of electricity,” cooperation was carried out to ensure smooth electricity supply during the event. PLN and BIN inked an MoU to ensure the reliability of the electricity supply and sufficient network at the regional level in Bali.
General Manager of PLN's Bali Main Distribution Unit, I Wayan Udayana, said that to date, PLN’s preparation has reached more than 47 percent progress on average and will reach 100 percent completion the first week of May.
Bali’s electrical capacity reaches 1,408 megawatts (MW) with the highest peak load of 1,107 MW and a power reserve of up to 21 percent. PLN also carries out equipment rejuvenation to ensure the transmission and socialization of kite-flying rules.
On the distribution side, the PLN Bali Unit is strengthening both the low and medium-voltage networks and inspecting the electrical installation of each venue. PLN will be on standby for WWF from May 15 until the end of activities.
Several venues that are the focus of electricity security are Garuda Wisnu Kencana as the gala dinner venue, Bali International Convention Center as the inauguration venue, Bali Turtle Island Development, Ngurah Rai Forest Park Area, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, The Meru Hotel and 15 hotels at ITDC.
PLN is also preparing 12 of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations or SPKLU Ultra Fast Charging (UFC) units, 26 units of SPKLU Standard Charging, and 20 units of public electric charging stations.
Citing the website of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the World Water Forum is the largest international meeting in the water sector held triennially and started in 1997. A total of 172 countries will send delegates to this year’s session in Bali.
