TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three students at the University of Indonesia or UI launched an app called 'SoleMate' aimed at assisting people in performing self-physiotherapy at home. The app was designed by three students from UI's Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, namely Amanda Meitashani, Putri Nadia, and Lulu Afifa.

Amanda explained that the SoleMate app consists of two components, which are Smart Insole Socks and SoleMate, the integrated app. "These two components function to detect foot pressure by using sensors installed in Smart Insole Socks and provide real-time reports for users on the development of their physiotherapy," she said in a statement on Friday, July 7.

The insole Socks is equipped with a special pressure sensor which is integrated with the SoleMate application. With Insole Socks, patients could perform self-physiotherapy at home by wearing Smart Insole Socks.

The data of the physiotherapy results can be sent in real-time through the SoleMate application in two directions. That's why the SoleMate app also allows the therapists to take control relating to the schedule and the physiotherapy process that must be done by the patients.

"SoleMate innovation also allows patients to communicate with their healthcare service providers more effectively, making it easier to adjust treatment plans and monitor progress," said Amanda.

To support independent physiotherapy processes at home, the SoleMate app is also equipped with features such as self-therapy schedule reminders, self-therapy tutorials, consultations with therapists via messages, and self-therapy video recording. In addition, the SoleMate app and Smart Insole Socks support the communication process and remote monitoring between the patient and the therapist so that the medication process is able to run well.
