Rain Shower Expected in South Jakarta Today Afternoon: BMKG

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released a weather forecast for Jakarta today in which parts of the capital have a chance of rain this afternoon, while other areas will be cloudy and sunny.

On Tuesday morning, the weather for West Jakarta and the Thousand Islands is expected to be cloudy, while Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta will have sunny skies.

There is also a likelihood of light-intensity rain in South Jakarta and East Jakarta this afternoon. West Jakarta’s weather will be cloudy, Central Jakarta and North Jakarta will be partly sunny, while the Thousand Islands will be sunny.

The agency also issued an early warning for South Jakarta today. “Be aware of the potential for rain which may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds within a short duration in parts of South Jakarta in the afternoon,” the BMKG wrote on its official website on Tuesday, May 2.

Tonight, the weather for most of the capital city was predicted to be cloudy as rain showers in South Jakarta will likely continue.

In the early hours of Wednesday, cloudy weather is expected to cover the entire city, except for the Thousand Islands which has the potential for light-intensity rain.

The BMKG further predicted that the air temperature in Jakarta, including the Thousand Islands, will range between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius with humidity between 70 to 100 percent.
