BMKG's Early Weather Warning for Greater Jakarta: Thunderstorm, Strong Winds

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) issued a weather forecast on April 25 for Greater Jakarta or Jabodetabek, which encompasses Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi, cautioning of unfavorable weather conditions in some of these areas. The details are as follows.

Cibinong in Bogor Regency, Bogor City, Depok, and Bekasi are likely to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning in the afternoon, following partly sunny weather in the morning.

The weather in other areas, including Jakarta and Greater Tangerang, is also expected to change from a cloudy morning to light rain in the afternoon, except for the Thousand Islands, which will remain cloudy throughout the day.

In the morning, thick clouds will envelop West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and North Jakarta, while areas like South Jakarta, East Jakarta, the Thousand Islands, Tangerang City, Serpong of South Tangerang City, and Tigaraksa of Tangerang Regency will be overcast. 

The possibility of light rain will persist tonight in South Jakarta and East Jakarta, as well as Depok, Cibinong, and Bogor City. The rest of the regions will experience cloudy weather overnight.

BMKG’s Early Weather Warning 

BMKG also released an early weather warning of thunderstorms for parts of South Jakarta and East Jakarta this afternoon and evening. In addition, Depok City, Depok Regency, and Bogor City are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds between day and night.

An early weather warning has also been issued for most areas of South Tangerang City and Central Tangerang Regency due to the possibility of moderate to heavy rain with lightning and strong winds.
