TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Culture and Tourism Agency of Cianjur Regency, West Java, has attempted to increase the number of tourist visits after the earthquake that occurred in November 2022. The effort they take includes promoting safe travel through social media.

Head of the Culture and Tourism of Cianjur Regency, Pratama Nugraha, said that in mid-2022, the number of tourist visits in the Cianjur area increased as they relaxed its restriction. However, the number of visits has started to decrease due to the natural disaster that occurred at the end of last year.

"Currently, the tremor of the earthquake continues to decrease, even in the last few days no earthquake or aftershock has occurred throughout the Cianjur area, therefore the promotion of safe tourism is being intensified through social media to increase the number of visits," said Pratama on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

The Cianjur Regency has a variety of attractive tourist destinations to offer, such as the cibodas botanical garden, Nusantara flower garden, Sevillage nature tourism, the Gunung Padang Megalithic Site, as well as several waterfalls and beautiful beaches.

Pratama said that the tourism promotion has also involved local content creators in Cianjur and West Java. Through their creative content, they introduce various Cianjur tourist sites and attract visitors from various backgrounds.

This year, Pratama is targeting several tourist visits to reach 6 million people, both local and foreign. "We will also participate in various promotional programs and tourism exhibition events that are held regionally and nationally," said Pratama.

To support tourist visits to Cianjur, Pratama said that his group would also prepare various supporting infrastructure. "The local and provincial governments are assisting with the repair and construction of roads for tourists to reach their destination, as well as the construction of Cianjur souvenir centres at tourist spots," he said.
