TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, at the G20 Summit in Bali, called for world leaders to help put an end to the invasion of his country by Russian troops.

In his speech at the G20 summit, Zelensky recalled the three occasions where the G19 seemingly had not considered Russia part of the multilateral forum.

Ukraine previously demanded that Russia be expelled from the G20 in the aftermath of its aggression against the country which eventually resulted in a global crisis.

Amid Western pressure to isolate Russia, President Vladimir Putin sent Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to the G20 summit. Indonesia as the host cannot exclude Russia from the forum as Russia is a member of the multilateral forum.

"I want this aggressive Russian war to end fairly and according to the UN Charter and international law, not by any means," Zelensky said, who joined the summit virtually.

Indonesia's focus as the G20 presidency is on global economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, with priorities in the fields of health, digital transformation, and energy transition. But the meeting of heads of state of the G20 members this time is overshadowed by the global crisis in the food and energy sector, which was triggered by the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Zelensky, in his speech at the G20 Summit, conveyed the 10 aspects of the list of solutions. He then offered world leaders to pick between the Ukrainian or the Russian way.
