TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government Covid-19 task force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito in a press conference on Wednesday night said East Java has become the province with the most number of villages and sub-districts where residents are least compliant with the national face mask protocol. Coming in second is Aceh, followed by Central Java, West Java, and Riau.

“The province that contributes the most villages or kelurahan with low compliance is East Java, which is 366 urban villages," said Wiku Adisasmito in the virtual press conference on March 23, Antaranews reported.

Based on the report he obtained, currently there are 29 percent or 1,811 villages or sub-districts with low compliance with the face mask health protocol.

He believes Indonesia should learn from several countries with high levels of booster vaccine achievements but are not disciplined in complying with health protocols. These countries are namely Italy, Germany, Britain, Vietnam and Thailand, which he said have recorded an increase in reinfection cases.

“Let's fasten our masks again, wash our hands regularly, and avoid crowds as much as possible and keep our distances,” said the spokesperson. “Don’t let it give way for more infections that could potentially cause cases to rise again.”
