TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government of Depok City, West Java has temporarily prohibited malls from reopening on account of the extension of level 4 community activity restrictions (PPKM Level 4) in the city until August 16, 2021.

"Malls and stores are temporarily closed. Except for stores which (do their) sales online, with maximum of three people per store. As for restaurant and supermarket employees' access, (they) may (do activities as long as they) see and apply the rules above," Depok City Mayor Mohammad Idris said in a written statement received on Wednesday.

The city administration has issued Circular Letter No. 443/336/Kpts/Satgas/Huk/2021 regarding the Extension of PPKM Level 4, or the Corona Virus Disease 2019 Level 4 Community Activity Restrictions.

As per the circular, supermarkets, mini markets, traditional markets, grocery stores, and supermarkets selling basic necessities can remain open until 8 p.m. local time, with operational capacity capped at 50 percent. Markets selling other goods can operate until 3 p.m. local time, with operational capacity limited to 50 percent.

Street vendors, grocery stores, voucher outlets, barbershops, laundries, hawkers, workshops, car washes, among others, can remain open until 8 p.m. local time, and are required to strictly implement health protocols, it stated.

Small food vendors can remain open until 8 p.m. and are allowed to serve three customers at a time. As per the circular, customers can only remain at the stalls for 20 minutes.

Restaurants, cafes, and stores inside buildings can stay open until 9 p.m. local time, but have been only allowed to make deliveries or offer take-aways.

A similar rule has been applied to restaurants, cafes, and stores inside malls. They can stay open until 8 p.m. local time provided they only offer deliveries or take-aways. The circular has prohibited them from accepting dine-in customers.
