Depok Provides Access to Free Healthcare with Just ID Card

7 December 2023 11:55 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Depok - Depok Deputy Mayor Imam Budi Hartono said the city administration has implemented Universal Health Coverage (UHC) since Dec. 1. This program provides free health services for every resident with just an ID card. Free medical care is available at community health centers or Puskesmas and hospitals.

Imam explained that the city allocated a budget of Rp112.8 billion to offer medical treatment to around 237,000 residents of Depok. The UHC program applies to all city residents with or without health insurance BPJS Kesehatan.

“But this is especially for residents who cannot afford BPJS,” he said on Thursday, Dec. 7.

He emphasized that the medical fee in Puskesmas throughout the city is no longer valid, except for non-Depok ID residents.

The Prosperous Justice Party or PKS politician also noted that three hospitals have not yet joined the program, namely Puri Cinere Hospital, Anak Bangsa Hospital, and Brawijaya Hospital. “The process is currently underway, and hopefully they will join soon,” Imam added.

The UHC program which replaced the previous social assistance program, however, will not cover the medical treatment for people who intentionally endanger themselves or for cosmetic purposes.

Depok residents can reach the call center at 081285431490 for complaints or assistance. “But I urge Depok residents to take care of their health,” Imam concluded.
