TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi inaugurated the Indonesia Digital Test House (IDTH) at the Telecommunication Equipment Testing Center (BBPPT) in Tapos, Depok on Tuesday morning, May 7. Jokowi hopes the IDTH will not only be a place for certification testing and equipment procurement, but also strengthen the local digital ecosystem.
"I ask [the Communications Ministry] to continue to encourage IDTH to become a development and research center that works with universities, start-ups and MSMEs," the president said.
Minister of Communications and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi hopes that IDTH could become a center of excellence, a forum for collaboration and synergy between government, industry, MSMEs, academia and society to develop innovative technology solutions that support the growth of the local digital ecosystem.
According to the ministry, the BBPPT has established partnerships with various stakeholders, including universities. There are 10 major universities with relevant degree programs that have the capacity to conduct research and host internships.
The IDTH was built on an area of 22,723 square meters at a cost of Rp1 trillion. The facilities consist of 12 testing laboratories for various electronic devices with the latest technology, operated by competent professionals in the field of testing and calibration, using international methods and standards. The building has a capacity to accommodate 5,000 tests per year.
