TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bogor administration of West Java has officially deactivated its emergency COVID-19 field hospital in Bogor city following the declining number of active cases in the area, thus eliminating the need for the hospital.

“The field hospital has been deactivated as of today. It no longer has any patients,” said Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto in the location on Monday, April 19.

However, refusing to be caught off guard against potential cases in the future, the mayor instructed authorities to step up its monitoring on the implementation of health protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19 transmission.

“Don’t let the leeway amid Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr cause another surge in cases,” he said.

Bima Arya said the field hospital would be reactivated when needed, i.e. if the number of cases rises again to a rate deemed dangerous.

The Bogor COVID-19 field hospital started operating on January 18, 2021, which was the government’s reaction to a surge in cases at the time. Currently, the bed occupancy ratio in Bogor city is 30 percent, which is below the ratio set by the World Health Organization (WHO) of 60 percent.
