BMKG Forecasts Rainy Eid al-Fitr in Bogor and Other Parts of West Java

8 April 2024 07:06 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Climatology Station of the West Java Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that rain will continue dominating the weather in West Java for the forthcoming week, as there are various factors that influence cloud growth in some areas on April 8-14, 2024.

Rakhmat Prasetia, Head of the West Java BMKG’s Climatology Station, said that sea surface temperatures around Indonesian waters still remain relatively warm, and the Kelvin wave was expected to be active in the province over the weekend.

Additionally, tropical cyclone Olga was observed in the Indian Ocean southwest of Sabu, East Nusa Tenggara, indirectly affecting the wind pattern and speed in West Java. “In general, the lability of the atmosphere varies from mild to strong,” Rakhmat said in a written statement on Sunday, April 7

Consequently, there is a likelihood of rainfall of moderate to very heavy intensity with lightning and strong winds on a local scale and of short duration in parts of West Java over the week, including on Eid al-Fitr on April 10-11, 2024. Here are the details.
