TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Mount Rinjani National Park announced Thursday it would reopen the mountain’s trekking route on April 1. However, they asserted the reopening came with a number of requirements.

On Instagram, the Mount Rinjani management stated trekking and non-trekking routes would be opened and visitors could book through the Rinjani Online Booking app (Aplikasi Booking Online Rinjani) that had been accessible since March 24.

There are two new trekking routes at the national park, viz. the Torean and the Tete Batu routes. The number of hikers allowed to visit the park during the COVID-19 pandemic will be limited to 50 percent of its total quota each day.

Hikers will also only be allowed to stay at camp sites on the active mountain for a maximum of 3 days and 2 nights.

The quota of visitors varies as follows: Senaru route (75 people per day), Sembalun route (75 per day), Timbanuh (50 per day), Aik Berik (50 per day), Torean (30 per day), and Tete Batu (30 per day).
