TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's Internal Affairs Division Chief Insp. Gen. Ferdy Sambo said that the Police would conduct urine tests on all officers throughout Indonesia following the case of the Astananyar Police Chief.

Astananyar Police Chief Comr. Yuni Purwanti Kusuma Dewi along with her 11 members was arrested over alleged drug cases.

"We will carry out urine tests on members who are stationed in entertainment venues and are also involved in drug trafficking operations," said Sambo when confirmed on Friday, February 19, 2021.

Sambo added that the mandatory check would not only be for officers tasked at entertainment locations but also those served in the city center. The step was taken as prevention of illegal drug use and distribution that involved police members.

Yuni's arrest began with the public report to the National Police Headquarters. After investigation, Yuni was tested positive for drugs of amphetamine or crystal meth after undergoing urine tests. She was now transferred as a middle officer of the West Java Regional Police for the investigation process.
