TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Java Police Chief Ahmad Dofiri on Thursday said that the Astanaanyar Police Chief, Comm. YP, who is allegedly involved in a drug abuse case is facing discharge and criminal charges from the Indonesian police institution.
“Yes, clearly there are two options, either be discharged or be criminally charged. So it is very clear what our actions would be against members who violate the law. Or it could be both of the options depending on the gravity of the violation. We’ll see,” said Ahmad Dofiri at the Bandung Police Headquarters on February 18.
He said that the legal implications to the police chief involved in a drug case shows the seriousness of the police institution upon handling violations, including to the female officer in question. Dofiri assured that Comm. YP has been discharged now and the Bandung police are preparing her replacement.
Moreover, dozens of other Astanaanyar Police members who are allegedly involved in the drug abuse will face similar sanctions as YP as 12 other police members who were nabbed are still being questioned at the West Java Police Internal Affairs Division or Propam.
“Let this be a lesson for other police personnel because policies are clear for members who abuse drugs,” he said.
