TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine today morning, January 27. He had the first shot on January 13.

The second inoculation was held at the Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta. The President looked more relaxed wearing a red jacket.

“It was just like before, I didn't feel it (the shot). In the last shot, I felt sore after two hours. Now I think it will be the same,” he said after the injection as broadcasted on Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

Several figures who received the first injection with President Jokowi were also present. They were the Chairman of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) Daeng M Faqih, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief General Idham Azis, and a popular entertainer Raffi Ahmad.

The Covid-19 Handling Task Force explained that the first injection is intended to introduce the vaccine and its ingredients to the immune system, while the second shot is aimed at strengthening the immune response that has been developed.

“Two doses of (Covid-19 vaccine) will trigger a more optimal antibody response in the future,” said the Covid-19 Handling Task Force spokesperson Reisa Broto Asmoro.
