TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin called on the public to cooperate with the government to curb the Covid-19 transmission. Moreover, Indonesia's coronavirus cases had surpassed one million.
“I believe that all Indonesian people have a great social capital to be able to do this together. And if all Indonesians are united, I am sure that whatever the problem is, we can solve it together,” said Budi Gunadi in a press conference on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
He appealed to all people to raise awareness to comply with the predetermined health protocols to help the government break the chain of virus transmission.
“The one million cases indicate that all Indonesians must work together with the government, work together to overcome this pandemic even harder. We will continue our hard work,” he remarked.
Budi added that all epidemiologists recommended measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic and the key is to reduce the virus transmission rate. “We have to flatten the curve,” he said.
As the curve is flattened, it would reduce the burden on health facilities. “To achieve that, we have to work hard together on two things. First, we must be very disciplined in wearing masks, washing hands, and keeping our distance. Secondly, we must coordinate to carry out testing, tracing, and treatment (3T),” said the Health Minister.
