TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo received his first dose of Covid-19 vaccine this morning, at 9:30 a.m. January 13, 2021, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, and was live broadcasted via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

Along with the President, several state officials were also among the first to be inoculated, namely Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) chairman Daeng M Faqih, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Secretary-General and representative of Muhammadiyah Amirsyah Tambunan, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) representative Ahmad Ishomuddin, Military or TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and National Police Chief General Idham Azis.

Tempo observed that before getting the jab, the President passed through data clarification at the first table and blood pressure check and health data clarification on the second table.

The injection was carried out by the presidential medical team at the third table. The doctor showed that the vaccine used was the one developed by Sinovac, a Chinese biopharmaceutical firm.

“I don’t feel it at all,” said Jokowi while laughing after the shot. He was then given a card indicating that he had got the shot at the fourth table.

First Lady Iriana did not participate in this inaugural vaccination. Likewise with Vice President Ma'ruf Amin as he is over 60 years old. The Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine is reportedly intended for people aged 18-59 years old.
