TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Park and Forest Agency announced a temporary closure of several tourist attractions and green open spaces (RTH) across the capital via a circular letter. The agency's head, Suzi Marsitawati, said the closure also applied to the Ragunan Zoo in South Jakarta.

“We are temporarily closing the Ragunan Zoo, RTH, city forests, and seedling nurseries or Kebun Bibit to the public on December 25, December 31, and January 1,” as read on the Circular No.38/SE/2020.

According to Suzi, the maintenance and security of the mentioned sites would still be carried out during the closure. The agency will also apply procedures of the use of green spaces.

“As stated in the Decree of the Park and Forest Agency Head No. 325 of 2020 concerning the use of RTH during the transitional PSBB (social restriction) towards a healthy, safe, and productive society.”

Suzi signed the circular on December 21, 2020. The closure was carried out following the Gubernatorial Instruction No. 64 of 2020 and the Gubernatorial Appeal No. 17 of 2020 on public activities in the prevention of COVID-19 transmission during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
