TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta tourist destination Taman Impian Jaya Ancol announces that it will not hold a 2021 New Year's Eve celebration. It is in line with the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy’s issuance number 400/SE/2200.
“We don’t plan any celebration. There will be no event,” said Ancol Corporate Communication Head, Rika Lestari when contacted by Tempo on Saturday, December 19.
In the previous years, Ancol management regularly held a New Year's Eve celebration with various events.
When asked about the health measures and anticipation of visitors by the end of the year, she said that they will announce an update, yet did not provide the details. But Rika told that her side will maintain the implementation of health protocols in the tourist destination.
As previously reported, Jakarta Provincial Government bans tourist destinations, hotels, and restaurants to organize a New Year’s Eve event as it has the potential to create crowds. The policy regulates the operation of the tourism business on New Year’s Eve based on the Covid-19 restriction, locally known as PSBB Transisi, in Jakarta.
All tourism businesses are asked to abide by the regulation on operational hours during PSBB Transisi by only opening their businesses until 21:00. Jakarta Administration asserts it will act firmly against health protocol violators.
