TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi calls on the people to stay home during the Christmas and New Year holidays. He reminds the public of the high number of Covid-19 infections that keeps increasing in the past two weeks.
People are advised to not go on a trip, “if it’s not necessary,” he said in a written statement Friday, December 18.
To anticipate the surge of people’s mobility, the Transportation Ministry is coordinating with the Covid-19 Task Force to set a circular on Christmas and New Year holidays to regulate the land, air, and sea transportations.
Meanwhile, the ministry has opened the holiday posts start to operate from December 18, 2020, to January 4, 2021. Budi Karya says his office is ready to provide safe, healthy, and convenient service in the transportation sector during the holiday season amid the pandemic.
He hopes that all the stakeholders can coordinate to maintain the service standard. The stakeholders include the Police, Transportation Department, the meteorology agency (BMKG), the national SAR department, the communication ministry, the transportation sector, and other related institutions.
