TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) criminal investigation department (Bareksrim) in commemoration of the national anti-corruption day said the country lost Rp7.62 trillion from 2018 to 2020 due to corruption.

Bareskrim also claims to have saved the state money up to Rp222 billion this year alone, which according to the Chief of the department, commissioner general Listyo Sigit Prabowo, comes from the 435 cases of corruption they handled throughout the year.

“From January to October, [police] saved Rp222,753,250,083 state money [from corruption],” wrote Sigit in Thursday’s press release commemorating the anti-corruption day on December 9.

Police say the aforementioned number comes from 1,346 cases while 911 cases are currently under ongoing investigation. In total, the state money saved by police from being corrupted since 2018 amount to Rp 3,698,866,116,012.
