TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Pandjaitan said that he has received the report on the progress of Indonesia’s first purpose-built MotoGP track in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara.

In the report by the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) president-director Abdulbar M Mansoer, the progress of the circuit’s and supporting facilities’ construction is on schedule for its use in 2021.

“MotoGP [track] is already 40 percent, but the access roads to the track is more than 40 percent complete. The street from the airport directly heads toward the circuit,” said Luhut Pandjaitan in Jakarta on January 29.

The supporting facilities from the Lombok Airport, Luhut said, include hotels and lodges which is mainly intended to accommodate the tourists that will come to see the MotoGP race at Mandalika circuit.

“It should be good obviously, it will show to tourists that we don’t only have Bali but there’s also Mandalika,” said Luhut Pandjaitan regarding Mandalika Circuit’s vicinity that is close to the coastline, which is intentional as it highlights West Nusa Tenggara’s characteristic nature.
