Sandiaga Uno Reports Foreign Tourist Visit in Indonesia Reaches 9mn in October

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno reported that the number of foreign tourist visits in Indonesia reached 9,942,004 by October 2023, an increase of 124.30 percent compared to the same period last year.
"The number surpassed 11.67 percent from the upper margin of the target of visits," he said on Monday, quoted from a press release by the ministry.
Earlier, the government has targeted 8.5 million foreign visits in 2023.
Citing Statistics Indonesia (BPS), foreign tourist visits during October reached 978,500, dominated by Malaysian tourists by 14.16 percent. Followed by Australia at 13.18 percent, Singapore at 9.17 percent, China at 7.7 percent, and Timor Leste at 6.02 percent.
The majority of these visits used airline services. "Ngurah Rai Airport and Soekarno-Hatta were the main gateways with the biggest foreign tourist visits recorded," he said.
Meanwhile, domestic tourist mobility during the January-October 2023 period experienced an increase of 11.99 percent compared to last year with 688.78 million with Java Island dominating the mobility.
"Interesting to note however, in October, NTB recorded the biggest domestic tourist movement, with 301.64 percent from NTB and 379.34 percent visits to NTB compared to the same period in 2022," he said. "It was due to MotoGP."
