The General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Parent Unit Distribution (UID) of Jakarta, Ikhsan Asaad, said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. This fire incident is the first time that has ever happened.

"It's rarely happening, this is the first time in Gambir Baru," he said on Monday, January 13, 2020.

Fire only occur in the transformer 1 of the Gambir Baru substation. The substation has three transformers so when one was affected the other two can still be used.

"The cause is still being investigated, our priority is to take the power source from another substation so that the electricity for the consumers could be turned on again," he said.

The fire also made the area of Sunter, Cempaka Mas, Kemayoran, Kelapa Gading and its surrounding area experienced power outages.
