TEMPO.CO, JakartaFirefighters are still trying to extinguish the fire that burned down the logistics warehouses of Lazada and SiCepat. From Thursday night to Friday morning, March 22, officials continued to douse the two burning buildings with water.

Susilo, one of the firefighters at the scene, said it was quite difficult to extinguish the fire in the sorting warehouses, which contain solid materials that are hard to decompose, such as cardboard, plastic, paper, and others.

"That's why it's taking quite a while to extinguish the fire," he said when we met at the scene of the fire at Jalan Pool PPD, Kedaung Kali Angke, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

Despite difficulties in extinguishing the fire, Susilo said the firefighters managed to isolate the fire and prevent it from spreading to the residential areas adjacent to the Gudang and SiCepat complex area. He said the fire brigade had deployed 17 fire engines to speed up the firefighting operation.

According to firefighters, the fire first broke out at the SiCepat warehouse. From this 300-square-meter warehouse, the fire spread to the Lazada warehouse.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in the electrical cable. The burning buildings are located in the Prima Center warehouse complex, which has a total area of 2 hectares.
