TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined 14 city officials in the alleged bribery case incriminating Medan Mayor Dzulmi Eldin. They were questioned as witnesses for the suspect, Medan Public Works and Housing Agency Head Isa Ansyari.

"The probe is conducted at the North Sumatra the Financial and Development Supervisory Body (BPKP) Office," said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah, Monday, November 18.

The fourteen city officials were Sanitation Agency Head Muhammad Husni, General Administration Assistant of Regional Secretary Renward Parapat, Population and Civil Registry Agency Head Zulkarnain, Agus Suriyono, Pringadi Regional Hospital Director Suryadi Panjaitan, former Education Agency Head Hasan Basri, Environment Agency Head Bob Harmansyah Lubis, and Food Security Agency Head Emilia Lubis.

The others were Agriculture and Fisheries Agency Head Ikhsar Risyad Marbun, Housing and Spatial Planning Head Benny Iskandar, Tax and Retribution Management Agency Head Suherman, Transportation Agency Head Izwar, Health Agency Head Edwin Effendi, and Medan Regional Market Director Rusdi Simoraya.

The anti-graft body suspected Dzulmi of having received Rp380 million in bribes on multiple occasions since Isa was inaugurated as the PUPR Agency Head in February to September 2019.

Dzulmi allegedly used the money to pay a travel agent for his extended working visit to Japan with his family. He needed to pay bills worth Rp800-Rp900 million.

Medan Protocol Division Head Syamsul Fitri Siregar made a list of a number of agency heads who would be instructed to pay the bills. Syamsul, who was named a bribery suspect, withdrew Rp250 million from Isa.
