TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has reportedly detained 8 people in ties to the sting operation on the North Lampung Regent, Agung Ilmu Mangkunegara over an alleged graft practice with North Lampung District’s Cooperation, Industries, and Trade (PUPR) Agency.
KPK Commissioner Basaria Panjaitan said the agency also named 6 other suspects with Regent Agung Ilmu as the graft recipient and Raden Syahril as his right-hand man.
“Other suspects such as Syahbuddin is the head of the PUPR agency in North Lampung and Wan Hendri as the region’s Trade Agency Chairman,” said Basaria in his press conference on Monday.
Agung and Raden Syahril are charged in violation of Article 12 or Article 11 of Law No.31/199 of the criminal code (KUHP).
KPK also nabbed two individuals, Chandra Safari and Hendra Wijaya Saleh, from the private sector who provided the bribe in violation of Article 13 of Law No.31/1999. The agency has confiscated Rp728 million strongly believed to be used in the graft, which was initially meant to smoothen a construction project in the region.
