TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy head Laode Muhammad Syarif is irked by Legal and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly’s claim that the government has talked about the draft revisions of KPK Law with him and KPK chair Agus Rahardjo before the bill passed into the law.

Pak Laoly should not need to create new narration and obscure the fact. I believe he has God, so he should tell the truth,” said Laode to Tempo, Wednesday, September 18.

Laode admitted that he met the minister in the latter’s office on Thursday last week. However, they came to ask for the problem inventory list (DIM) submitted by the government to the House, not because they were invited by the PDIP politician to discuss the KPK Law revisions.

Pak Agus Rahardjo and I accompanied by Pak Pahala Nainggolan and Pak Rasamala Aritonang (KPK legal division) visited Pak Laoly, but he did not give us the DIM,” said Laode.

At that time, Laode also demanded Laoly discuss the DIM with KPK before the government takes a final decision. “Pak Laoly pledged to invite KPK during a meeting in DPR, but he did not fulfill the promise. We are never asked for opinions at all,” he remarked.

Previously, the minister claimed that the government had talked about the KPK Law revisions with Agus Rahardjo and Laode Syarif before the law was ratified.

“I have contacted Pak Laode and received the visit of Pak Laode and Pak Agus Raharjo in my office about this. I have explained the agreed points,” said Yasonna after the plenary meeting in the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Tuesday, September 17. He stopped short of detailing the time of the meeting.

Laode has again denied all of Yasonna Laoly’s claims. “We are never asked for opinions,” he underlined.
