Chief of Staff Moeldoko on KPK Law's Revision; No More Criticism

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential chief of staff Moeldoko says that the House of Representatives’ (DPR) enactment of the Corruption Eradication Commission law or KPK Law today marks the end of a string of criticisms aimed at the government.
“Criticisms and inputs, in the end, the revision has been completed,” says Moeldoko at the Presidential Palace Complex on Tuesday, September 17.
He called for the public to keep tabs on KPK’s performance in the coming years following the new law. Despite agreeing to the revision, he claims the government remains committed in the eradication of corruption.
“As the President, Pak Jokowi has no intentions at all to change his commitment in the eradication of corruption,” he said.
He says that the government’s commitment to that is evident in the inputs given to the House after the KPK Law revision draft was handed to the government.
“We wouldn’t correct many clauses in the draft if the government is not committed,” said Moeldoko.
He then asked the public to understand that the KPK Law revision has been postponed for 17 years where the anti-graft agency had also been subjected to numerous criticisms from members of the public.
