TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday night apprehended five employees and board of directors of a state-owned enterprise in a sting operation (OTT) held in South Jakarta.
“Yes, that is true. KPK confirms the arrest made in one of our sting operations,” said KPK Deputy Chief Basaria Pandjaitan on Thursday, August 1.
Basaria elaborates that the five people arrested consist of directors of state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, PT INTI, and employees of both enterprises.
The arrest is suspected to be linked to an alleged transaction between the two companies for an ongoing construction project.
KPK has also confiscated initial evidence in the form of the money used in the deal. The money that was in Singaporean dollars was valued almost up to Rp1 billion.
“The money was confiscated for evidence,” said Basaria.
The arrested people will now undergo questioning at KPK headquarters and intensive interrogation. Basaria promised that more information regarding the suspected graft and the identities of the people involved will be revealed in the next 24 hours.
