TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police (Polri) is coordinating with the Malaysian Police (PDRM) to investigate the alleged cast ballots case in the neighboring country, by providing assistance to the General Election Commissions (KPU) in checking the location of the incident, among others.

"As well as checking the documents; and [we] collaborate with PDRM," Chief of public information at the Polri's Public Relation unit Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo confirmed on Saturday, April 13.

The next step is both police institutions, General Elections Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), and KPU will hold a meeting. However, the Bawaslu still acts as the leading sector in this case. "They will assess if the case is included as election violation; be it election crime or general crime," Dedi said.

PDRM will then convey the provisions of legal jurisdiction in Malaysia since the tampered ballots were found in the country. Then, Bawaslu will officially bring up the finding.

Previously, video of the finding of the punctured voting ballots in Malaysia was circulated on social media. In the video, it appears that the ballots have been cast for Jokowi and Maruf Amin ticket, and for some legislative candidates.
