TEMPO.CO, JakartaDeputy Head for Financing and Investment at the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Agung Wicaksono stated that several companies from Malaysia and Germany had expressed interest in investing in development at IKN.

Agung stated that he had received three letters of intent (Lol) from three Malaysian private companies, Seven Seasons Preservation Sdn Bhd, Citadel Group Sdn Bhd, and Ranhill Utilities Berhad.

The three companies operate in different fields. Seven Seasons Preservation, for example, is a sustainable energy company. Meanwhile, Citadel Group is a private trust company and Ranhill Utilities is a water supply company.

"Malaysia has added their LoI to (IKN), marking them as the country with the highest number of LoI. It must be noted that two of their companies have also entered the feasibility test of the PPP scheme (public-private partnership) in the construction of ASN housing," said Agung while accompanying the delegation on the visit, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Malaysia-Indonesia Business Council, Dato Tan Sri Nasir Razak, stated that they intend to invest in Indonesia, influenced by IKN's geographical position which also borders Brunei Darussalam, which could potentially improve their economy.

Nasir stated that 28 company representatives came to see the business opportunities that existed at IKN. "Apart from that, there are already 3 companies that have shown interest in investing here," he said.

Furthermore, Agung also mentioned Germany's interest in moving its embassy to the archipelago, as well as plans to increase cooperation through (MoU) with the German company, Siemens.

The German Embassy to Indonesia, part of the delegation, even visited the Diplomatic Compound area. This area will later be used as a location for diplomatic representatives from various friendly countries in Indonesia.

"Large German companies such as Siemens and Commerzbank along with German financing institutions such as KfW, GIZ, and export credit were also very interested in discussions during the visit," said Agung.

He also mentioned that the German electronics company, Siemens, was also reviewing to increase cooperation with IKN which was initiated through an MoU at the Hannover-Messe 2023 Conference last year. Currently, Siemens wishes to explore cooperation in green energy and the provision of transmission cables in IKN.

Deputy Ambassador of the German Federal Embassy to Indonesia Thomas Graf hoped that this visit could strengthen ties of friendship through further investment from Germany.
