TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Depok City’s Transportation Agency Dadang Wihana called for a thorough investigation of the fatal road accident that unfortunately killed a young woman earlier on Monday, April 8.

“We must see the cause, whether it because of the road separator or because of a hit-and-run,” said Dadang to Tempo on Tuesday, April 9.

Dadang also stated that his agency always becomes a target following road accidents and maintained that dismantling the lane separators will cause more traffic accidents because of vehicles crossing between lanes.

The tragic and gruesome accident involved young female motorcyclist Ita Sachari (27) who allegedly died after hitting the lane separator over the Margonda Street, causing her body hit a sling cable fence parallel to the street. The body was found in a deplorable condition.

According to Depok Police Traffic Chief Commissioner Sutomo, the location of Ita’s accident is a known black spot or an area prone to traffic accidents, mainly because it is where the lane separator starts and is arguably invisible in the night.
