TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Residents of Yogyakarta can now access free internet through Wifi connections, provided by the city administration, in 100 locations across the city.

Yogyakarta acting-head of communication, information, and coding agency (Kominfosandi) Ig. Trihastono said that the public only needs to utilize the Jogja Smart Service (JSS) account that can be registered with one’s mobile number.

“The Yogyakarta administration’s free hotspot can be accessed from every government offices and several public parks and community hall,” said Trihastono on Tuesday, March 12.

Trihastono said that this public Wifi provided by the regional administration is hoped to boost the region’s economic potential and further assist the region’s digitalized government service that is being pushed by Yogyakarta.
