Anies Baswedan to Meet Yogyakarta's Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate number one Anies Baswedan will meet Yogyakarta's Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X today, Wednesday, Jan. 24. According to Anies, the meeting will start at around 09:00 a.m. local time.
Anies announced the scheduled meeting after attending his campaign event Desak Anies at Rocket Convention Hall, Sleman, Yogyakarta on Tuesday. "It will be announced later. If i'm not wrong, the meeting is scheduled for [Wednesday] at 09:00 a.m. local time," said the former governor of Jakarta.
Anies did not reveal further about the meeting agenda with the Sultan. However, he said the meeting is conducted as a reunion between Anies and the leader of Yogyakarta.
The former minister of education also did not inform where the meeting will take place. Meanwhile, his counterparts Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo have met with Sultan Hamengku Buwono X separately at the Yogyakarta Governor Office.
The first to convene with the Sultan was Ganjar on December 27, 2023. When asked about what agenda the 1.5-hour meeting included, he said "[Of course] I asked for his approval and prayer, for safety, for anything, especially about the condition of this country."
Meanwhile, Prabowo Subianto visited the Sultan this Monday, accompanied by his vice presidential candidate Gibra Rakabuming Raka. Prabowo claimed the meeting was intended to ask for permission to enter Yogyakarta.
