TEMPO.CO, JakartaWorld Population Review released a list of countries with the highest and shortest average height in the world in 2023. Indonesia is in first place as the country with the shortest average height in the world. Meanwhile, the Netherlands gets the top position as the country with the highest average height.

Caucasian people in Europe, America, Australia and New Zealand are known to have a height above the average for other human races on earth. However, not all countries have the same average height. The Netherlands, which was originally relatively short compared to other European countries, has now become at the top.

On the other hand, when compared with European people, people in Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia, are known to have relatively short heights. Not only Indonesia, other countries in Southeast Asia actually have heights that are not much different, such as the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia.

One of the main factors that influences a person's height is heredity or genetics. If one or both parents have a relatively short body, it is likely that their child will inherit these body characteristics. If both parents have this gene, the chance that the child will have a short stature will be greater.

So, which countries have been crowned as the countries with the highest and shortest average height?

Reporting from the World Population Review, here are the 10 countries with the highest average height in the world according to a survey in 2023:

1. Netherlands - 1,838 m
