KPK Tests `Panic Button` for its Field Investigators

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) decided to evaluate its security standard procedure after two of its investigators became victim to an assault taking place early this morning at 02:00 AM local time.
“We will evaluate the existing security procedure,” said KPK Deputy Chief Saut Situmorang in a text message on today.
Two KPK investigators were assaulted in early at dawn while stationed at Hotel Borobudur in Jakarta on Saturday, February 2. KPK Spokesman Febri Diansyah said that the two KPK personnel were tasked to investigate a public report on a possible act of corruption.
Saut argues that the ideal security system is through rapid response to respond KPK field investigators that encounter possible threats. This is considering that KPK investigators often move to numerous locations in a short period of time.
KPK Deputy Chief Laode M. Syarif said that the commission is currently testing a technology called the ‘panic button’ which will provide extra protection by sending a security team once a KPK employee presses that button.
