TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 300 food and beverage vendors took part in the festivity of Old Market Culinary Night on Jalan Kisamaun, Tangerang City, on Saturday, December 20. The event was held by street vendors community and the Old Market Revitalization Work Group (Portal) starting from 14:00 to 24:00 local time.
“It is attractive mostly because it serves foods that are usually sold in the Old Market (Pasar Lama) such as Pasar Lama Signature Satay, Chicken Porridge, and Serabi,” said Portal spokesman Fahrul Rozi to Tempo on Thursday.
“The theme is ‘Tangerang Tempatnya Makanan Enak’ (Tangerang, The Place Of Delicate Foods).
According to Fahrul, besides supporting vendors’ economy, the event was also held to promote tourism in Tangerang City. The Old Market area, also known as the Tangerang’s China Town, is home to a number of cultural heritage such as Old Market Mosque, Boen Tek Bio Pagoda, and the oldest, historical Heritage Fort.
