TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Communication and Information is planning to lift bans on the Vimeo, on a condition that the video-sharing site will follow the regulations applied in Indonesia, Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara said.
The Ministry of Communication and Information blocked the site, in addition to hundreds of other sites, in May 2014 due to its pornographic contents.
"I have called Vimeo Chief Executive Officer Kerry Trainor to discuss the matter," Rudiantara said on Thursday, November 27, 2014.
Trainor, Rudiantara added, has welcomed communication effort made by the ministry. Both Rudiantara and Trainor have scheduled another video conference in June, after a meeting held in November which was attended by digital business owners, including Kaskus site founder Andrew Darwis.
Rudiantara had yet confirmed when Vimeo can be accessed in Indonesia. Rudiantara said that addressing issues with Vimeo was among a number of priority tasks to be carried by the Ministry of Communications and Information.
