TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said mass transportation in Jakarta had not changed since the 1990s. He added this was evident from the bus routes at the Blok M Terminal in South Jakarta, which remained the same to date.

“Those who often go to Jakarta since the college days, are the bus routes still the same until now? They are,” said Anies at the Redtop Hotel in Central Jakarta on Friday, November 9.

Anies said the Blok M terminal was no longer appropriate to be called a terminal, as the term was used to describe a facility where passengers from the outskirts were picked up and dropped off, whereas Blok M is part of the capital's downtown.

The governor said he planned to increase the number of public transport routes to reach all people in the capital. He added this was feasible by implementing an integrated transportation system. “That’s why we build Jak Lingko,” he said.

Jak Lingko is a new brand Anies Baswedan introduced to change the name of the One Ticket One Trip program (OK OTrip). Lingko is a paddy irrigation system in Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara, that takes the form of an interconnection network. Anies hoped the transportation system in Jakarta could emulate this.
