TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said the death toll from the earthquake and tsunami in Palu, Central Sulawesi, has climbed to 844 on Monday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. Previously, until Sunday, it was 832.

In Palu, the number remains the same, 821 people died, 744 of them have been identified,” BNPB public relations head Sutopo Purwo Nugroho told a press conference in his office on Monday, October 1, 2018.

Sutopo said the latest 11 victims were found in Donggala regency and another 12 in Parigi Moutong district. Meanwhile, information about the victims in Sigi district has not been received. “This data is temporary, it will definitely keep being updated,” he said.


Sutopo said the victims died in collapsed buildings and his agency had identified them.
