Police Arrest 247, Shoot 11 Robbers to Death in 2-week Operation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police arrested 247 people allegedly involved in street crime during the second-week operation of robbers and thieves hunting on July 6-12. It was done to secure the condition ahead of the 2018 Asian Games event.
“A total of 1,237 people received guidance and 247 people were arrested,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Commissioner Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono at Polda Metro Jaya on Friday, July 13.
Throughout the second week, the police managed 532 cases which include robbery, torture, as well as vehicles and empty house theft.
Police held independent regional operations from July 3 to hunt down robbers and thieves. The authorities have arrested 320 people and were forced to shoot 52 people; 41 people were shot in the foot and 11 were shot dead.
“We apply the firm and measurable actions to those who fight the officers and endanger the victims,” said Argo.
The firm and measurable actions are in accordance with the instructions of Metro Jaya Police Chief Insp. Gen. Idham Azis. He ordered the police to shoot the robbers and thieves who resist.
