TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported based on the National Census (Susenas) 2014 and 2015, the population of Indonesia had reached 254.9 million.
BPS data showed that of the total, male population reached 128.1 million, while the female 126.8 million.
"The number increased from 2014, at 252 million," according to BPS media release on Friday, November 20.
In addition, BPS said the sex ratio of the population of Indonesia in 2014 and 2015 is relatively equal, that is by 101.02 and 101. The BPS sex ratio, means that of 100 female population there are 101 males.
Meanwhile, the composition of urban population or village shows the population in 2015 lives more in rural areas, or a number of 128.5 million. While 126.3 million live in large urban areas.
Although the number of rural residents is higher, population growth from 2014 to 2015 is higher in urban areas compared to rural areas. Noted, population growth in urban areas reached 1.75 percent, while in rural areas population growth is 0.52 percent.
