Finance Minister Says Food Security Issue is Time-Sensitive

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati highlighted the critical need for national food security. According to the minister, food security is a time-sensitive issue.
"Food security cannot be delayed, since the Indonesian population will increase," she said during the Indonesia Infrastructure Finance's Anniversary Dialogue on Monday in South Jakarta. "The number of our population will reach 350 million people, and that requires anticipation and answers from now."
In addition to food security, Sri Mulyani also highlighted the emergency necessity for clean water, infrastructure development, and internet connectivity. In this context, Sri Mulyani hoped that PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance could play strategic roles based on their duty and function.
Sri Mulyani also reflected on the general infrastructure development which constantly evolving. "We need reform considering the risk in the global dynamics," she said. The government and stakeholders must cooperate to achieve food security.
"Through a long negotiation between shareholders and development bank with the Finance Ministry, I hope we don't constantly create enemies out of good things," she concluded.
