TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Herlan J.S, Head of Bandung's Tourism and Culture Agency, said that the local government of Bandung will attempt to break the world record by playing 20,000 Angklung, a traditional musical instrument made of bamboo, simultaneously in Siliwangi Stadium during the 60th Asian African Summit scheduled to be held on April 18 to April 27, 2015.

"The [conference] delegates will attend the ceremony in Siliwangi Stadium. We will play 20,000 Angklungs together," said Herlan on Monday March 30, 2015. Herlan added that the previous world record was held by China after playing 7,000 Angklungs simultaneously.

Herlan added that the volunteer players are not only from the city of Bandung, but also from the surrounding regions such as Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Garut, Bekasi and Jakarta.

Other than the record breaking event, Bandung has also prepared 30 other Asian African themed events which involves nearly every resident of Bandung.
