TEMPO.CO, Purwokerto - Vice president of state-owned railway company PT KAI operation area Purwokerto, M. N. Huda D. Santoso, said Joglosemarkerto train (KA) would start operational starting December 1, 2018.
“KA Joglosemarkerto is launched due to a rapid development of people's mobilization in Tegal, Prupuk, Purwokerto, Kroya, Gombong, Kebumen, and Kutoarjo. Thus, reliable, fast, on-time mass transportation that free of congestion is required, as to heading other cities such as Pekalongan, Semarang, Solo, and Yogyakarta,” said Huda in Purwokerto, Banyumas District, Central Java, on Friday, November 30.
Huda mentioned several trains had already connected those cities, yet that required transits.

“KA Joglosemarkerto is an extension route of KA Kamandaka, initially serves Semarang Tawang-Purwokerto line, with a route of Yogyakarta-Solo-Semarang Tawang. Other than KA Kamandaka, KA Joglokerto is also extended to be Semarang-Solo-Yogyakarta, from previously Solo Purwosari-Purwokerto and vice versa,” Huda explained.
He said KA Joglosemarkerto which would start operational on Saturday would consist of two executive wagons with a capacity of 100 seats, and seven economic wagons. It is able to accommodate 560 passengers.
According to Huda, the train cost for an executive class is set at Rp40.000-390.000, while the economic class is Rp30.000-260.000, based on the travel distance.
“But, KAI offers 10 percent discount for KA Joglosemarkerto for a departure on December 1-13, 2018. Tickets can be booked via external platforms or KAI Access,” he added.
