Gerindra Assures Djoko Santoso to Lead Prabowo Campaign Team

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra secretary-general Ahmad Muzani said the coalition party agreed to name Djoko Santoso as the leader of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno campaign team.

“The announcement has been made,” said Muzani at Prabowo’s residence, South Jakarta on Thursday, August 30. Gerindra party elites held an internal meeting with its patron chief Prabowo and Djoko was introduced as campaign team leader.

The issue about Djoko Santoso to be campaign team leader of Prabowo-Sandiaga pair was brought up since August 14. Prabowo first proposed the former Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander.

Meanwhile, Gerindra has yet announced the names to occupy the team structure. Muzani said the final draft was made and that would be revealed before the presidential and vice presidential announcement held by the General Election Commission (KPU) on September 20.

According to Muzani, the structure of the Prabowo-Sandiaga campaign team would possibly be revealed next week along with the launching of the new location of the campaign team post. He added the draft would be discussed until four parties in the coalition agreed. “We will announce it at the right time, Insha Allah, next week.”

Muzani mentioned the coalition party leaders would either fill the director board or advisory board. “I couldn’t recall it,” he said.
